Q: How long have you been part of our Core fam and how has life changed for you since you started?:
T: I joined 2014
M: And I foolishly waited until 2016.
B: Our lives have been enriched immensely since joining The Core. CrossFit is cool, but the community is what keeps you coming back.
Q: What do you find the most challenging aspect of living a healthy lifestyle?
B: In the beginning of making a lifestyle change the hardest part is finding what works for you & what is sustainable long-term. It eventually becomes routine & normal so then it’s about being disciplined so that you don’t regress to old habits.
Q: What is your motivation to focus on your health and make time for fitness?
B: We want to live active lifestyles for and with our kid(s) long-term. We are already thinking about what we need to do now in order to preserve our health so at ages 65+ we are thriving. We also want our daughter to know health and fitness first hand so this lifestyle seems normal to her and is something she sees/does/eats/wants day in and day out. And lastly, a healthy lifestyle is what works best for us in our marriage and our household so we know the level of importance is exceedingly high.
Q: What do you love the most about being a part of The Core?
B: We love that we can walk into The Core as a family, focus on ourselves individually, but also cheer each other on in the process. We get to leave our woes at the door, rest assured that our baby girl is in a safe space & being looked after while we get to interact & commiserate with people from all walks of life. We have made friendships with people that genuinely care about our wellbeing.
Q: What is your favorite CrossFit movement/element?:
T: Anything running related & cleans - power & squat.
M: Probably thrusters.
Q: What is your least favorite CrossFit movement/element?
T: Definitely wall crawls.
M: Power snatch or burpees
Q: What is your CrossFit/health goal this year?
B: With 2020 being such a crazy year with lots of curve balls we put CrossFit to the side, regrettably. Our goal for 2021 is to get back in the habit of working out 3-5 times a week every week.
Q: Anything extra you want to share?
B: Health & fitness is a lot like planning for retirement...no one is going to do it for you. You have to commit to building a better future for you and your family. You have to make the time, put in the work, plan the meals, sweat a lot, experience failure, celebrate the victories, and know that you are worth investing in yourself every single day. Your family deserves the best version of you. 3-5 hours of your week spent at The Core building a better “you” is worth more than could be put into words.
