April 2021
Q: What got you interested in CrossFit?
S: We were looking to get back in shape and wanted something with a coach and group atmosphere. We had friends doing CrossFit and Camp Gladiator but CrossFit had childcare. I also was a powerlifter in high school so getting back to lifting was appealing too.
Q: How long have you been part of our Core fam?
S: Almost 4 years.
Q: How has being a part of the Core impacted your life?
S: The Core gives me a safe place to be myself, work hard, take a moment from the kids, get stronger in a multitude of ways, improve my mental health, and enjoy time with friends all at once. That is invaluable. Also I'm not sure how our family would have made it through the early days of the pandemic without the Zoom WODs, coach check ins, Zoom coffee hangouts, etc that the Core did. Being part of a community that truly loves and supports is so amazing.
Q: What is your motivation to focus on your health and make time for fitness?
S: I've always considered myself athletic and being part of the Core and staying in shape helps me feel true to myself. I want to be healthy for the long term. Plus I love seeing my kids pick up the importance of being healthy and active.
Q: What is your favorite CrossFit movement/element?
S: Handstand push ups
Q: What is your least favorite CrossFit movement/element?
S: Burpees or running.
Q: What is your CrossFit/health goal this year?
S: Be better at running.
Q: Anything extra you want to share?
S: CrossFit is a great way to stay in shape but what makes the Core special for our family is the intentional focus that is placed on loving and supporting the community within the box and also the community at large as well.
