Q: How long have you been part of our Core fam?
A: 7 months
Q: What do you love the most about CrossFit at The Core?
A: The environment, the people, but mostly the feeling I get when I have pushed my body to its limits for the day. I love that each workout is my workout, and every time it pushes me to do better.
Q: What is your motivation to focus on your health and make time for fitness?
A: My family. Having a handicap child that relies 100% on her parents to do everything, including moving her is a huge motivation. She’s small for now at 65-70 lbs, but it’s dead weight and I want to be able, healthy, and fit to help care for her as she grows. Plus being strong and healthy feels so much better than being lazy! Haha
Q: Did you ever have concerns about CrossFit?
A: I did. I tried CrossFit 1 time somewhere else. I did a consult 1 on 1 with the coach and was shown a few basic moves. He then told me to come back to the next class. That WOD the coach told me to grab are bar and add 10 pounds. We did squats I think... I couldn’t even do body weight squats correctly yet and here I was squatting 55lbs my first day. I couldn’t walk or sit for days. It was awful and I never wanted to go back. So I didn’t, until I saw the Core’s Couch-to CrossFit program on Facebook and I fell in love with it and the confidence it gives me now.
Q: What is your favorite CrossFit movement/element?
A: I’m not sure I have a “favorite” but I enjoy seeing my body getting stronger with deadlifts.
Q: What is your least favorite CrossFit movement/element?
A: I’m not a huge fan of Wall-balls.
Q: What is your CrossFit/health goal this year?
A: I want to get a PR entered into Wodify for each movement. So I can really start to see my strength change. Plus I want to feel good too.
Q: Anything extra you want to share?
A: I’m grateful to the Core coaches for pushing me to be a better me!
